2014 Interns

Expectations and opportunities are high for our interns; we interview for a several month commitment and focus on your professional development.  Our internships will give you experience in all aspects of online content development, virtual/distributed team building skills, and expose you to a wonderful international development network.

We are building an intern team to strengthen the member network, plan events, and manage the production and publication of online material, all for the purpose of advancing the educational mission of the organization.  A full team could consist of six positions:

Skills You’ll Need:

Administrative -We primarily use WordPress, Dropbox, Mailchimp, and Google Docs to keep everything straight. We’ll train you on these tools, but you must be able to meet deadlines.

Writing – for some positions you’ll need to be comfortable creating and editing written material, such as attractive blog posts, informative event listings, and social media blurbs.  Experience with WordPress or Mailchimp is a huge plus.

What will you get out of this?

  • Training in a variety of online collaboration tools and platforms used in the international space.

When / Where?

These internships have flexible dates of commitment.  The Fall 2018 internships are designed mostly for availability through May 2019.  We are looking for 5-10 hours of your schedule per week.  Depending on the position, an intern can be in either country and any city/university.

Our volunteers are asked to provide assistance with tasks to help us in those areas where their own personal skills are most applicable.  Examples include bookkeeping, event programming or promotion, and fundraising.  Generally speaking, there is no expectation to be included in the daily/weekly production and maintenance cycle.

You can easily become a volunteer by writing to admin@taiinitiative.org and letting us know about your best skills to put to good use.

We are currently seeking people with skills in:

  • Bookkeeping
  • Graphic design (Pixlr, PicMonkey, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Photography
  • Chinese/English written translation
  • Web design
