SUMMARY:CHINA Town Hall: Everett
DESCRIPTION:The National Committee on U.S.-China Relations (NCUSCR) will hold its eighth annual national program\, “CHINA Town Hall: Local Connections\, National Reflections”; this is the second year The Tai Initiative (TI) is sponsoring a local venue\, at the Everett Community College (EvCC)\, with which TI has been building a very successful relationship.\nWe encourage everyone in the Puget Sound region to join us for the event\, starting at 3:45pm and running to 7:30pm (Oct. 16) at EvCC’s Henry M. Jackson Conference Center. The event will start with a live webcast talk by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and will be followed by a presentation about eco-villages and the environmental impact of China’s urban growth by Dr. Melinda Herrold-Menzies\, associate professor of environmental analysis at Pitzer College in Claremont\, Calif.  The goal of the program is to provide a direct connection between a national-level discussion and the local level.  Our TI focus on the subnational level makes the perfect event to highlight during the year!\nFollowing Herrold-Menzies’ speech and time for questions and answers\, a recorded version of Carter’s earlier address will be replayed\, followed by more community discussion. Refreshments will be served. Participants can submit questions online as part of the national conversation and ask questions and share their thoughts as part of the local discussion.
